The central board of examination conducted the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) till the year 2018. The JEE Main is currently conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA). The JEE Main is the first phase of the Joint entrance examination. JEE was conducted in four sessions last year. In the year 2022, one key change is that the examination will be conducted only in two sessions instead of four sessions. The candidates can either opt to appear once or both times for the examination. The students can apply to top engineering colleges with the JEE Main score.
JEE Main Eligibility
The eligibility criteria for the JEE Main is set by the National Testing Agency for the year 2022. The JEE Main Eligibility will remain the same for both the sessions conducted in the year 2022. It is important that the candidate must check the eligibility criteria for the successful approval of the application form.
The following are the important eligibility criteria for JEE Main
1) Age Criteria: Candidates of any age group can appear for JEE. However, the candidates must satisfy the age limit to apply to various colleges.
2) Total Attempts: The candidates can appear for all the sessions of JEE Main conducted in three consecutive years. If there are two sessions in a year, the candidate can appear for 6 sessions in total.
3) Qualifying Examination: The candidates are qualified for JEE Main if they clear the following examinations. The examination includes the CBSE Class 12th examination, Pre-University examination, Joint Services Wing examination conducted by the National Defence Academy, senior secondary school examination conducted by the national institute of open schooling with a minimum of five subjects with Physics and Maths as their core subjects, any examination conducted in India or any foreign country recognised as equivalent to the 12 system by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) etc.
4) Marks Eligibility: The candidates should get a minimum of 75% in the Class 12 examination or be in the top 20 percentile to get admission in IIT, NIT or other top engineering colleges.
JEE Main Registration
The registration process for the JEE Main 2022 has begun from 1st March 2022. As per the notification shared by the National Testing Agency, the application form for the examination has to be submitted by 31st March 2022. The JEE Main registration can be done online on the official website by the candidates. Once the registration is done, the candidates can fill out the application form. The application fee has to be paid after the application form is submitted. The candidates are advised to recheck the details filled in on the application form before submitting it.
Important Notice for 2022 Registration
The candidates should apply for session 1 and session 2 separately. A separate time duration is given to the candidates to apply for the 2 sessions. The fee for the examination can be paid only online through net banking, credit card, debit card, UPI services. Candidates will not be allowed to submit multiple application forms. The candidates will be provided with a window to make corrections in the application form.
