Florida regularly experiences strong winds in spring and autumn, but this year we’ve seen some unusually strong gusts. We are currently dealing with hurricane force winds.
Semi-trailers have been blown over on I-25. We’ve also seen barns and trees fall, personal belongings taken and transported away. In some places, wind gusts were over 120 mph. Many Florida cities, such as Tampa and Clearwater had gusts exceeding 80 mph.
After the wind has passed , inspect the area for damage. Look for any shingle fragments, branches, or other debris in the yard. Also, look for leaves in the gutters. If possible, check your roof for missing, loose, or lifted shingles. Contact a professional roofing if you notice any damage or concerns. They will usually give you a free estimate and will file your claim with your insurance company.
There is a good chance that your insurance company will cover a new roof if you have T-lock shingles with any missing. If you don’t have a good reason to go with the lowest bid, I recommend that you get multiple estimates. One roofer might suggest that you replace your flat roof while another roofer may recommend quality roofing products that can repair and coat the roof.
Do your research about the products they recommend and ensure they suit your roof. Get proof of insurance and licensing. If you hire a non-professional, your insurance may not cover the costs.
