Hearing words of discouragement and being looked down upon can have a major impact on one’s self-esteem and confidence. Being humiliated or having your insecurities being pointed out by someone online can shatter your confidence and lead you to be more self-conscious and more doubtful of your abilities. Even though the fact stays that you have far more ability in you than anyone can tell. You are more capable than you think. Yet, being cyberbullied can lead one to think otherwise.
Demotivation
Being in a low mental state as a result of being cyberbullied can lead to having your focus still on it and being easily distracted and unable to focus on your daily tasks. You may find yourself demotivated.
Peer Pressure
Cyberbullying can also lead to immense stress, which may lead one to start smoking as a way to relieve stress. Even some turn towards drugs.
Deteriorating Mental Health
One’s mental health can get low having or experiencing negativity around, may it be through one’s actions or words. A victim of cyberbullying suffers the most from mental health issues such as depression, anxiety, and stress. They might feel that they are better alone and may start to shut down the people they love. They might start to think of themselves as unworthy of love and help when the reality is the opposite. The extreme stress further does not help as they bottle up all their feelings inside.
Self-harm
Constant feelings of depression and loneliness may lead to suicidal thoughts arising in the mind of someone being cyberbullied or harassed. This might lead them towards self-harm with the thought that it might help.
PTSD
On the long-term effects, the trauma from the experience of cyberbullying may remain with the victim for several years.
