This Privacy Policy explains what data Construction Scope collects, how we use it, and your rights. Short version: we collect what we need to run the service, we don't sell your data, and you can export or delete it anytime.
1. What we collect
Account information. Your name, email, company name, phone number, and password (hashed). We collect this when you sign up.
Job & customer data. The information you put into the service: customer records, estimates, invoices, time entries, photos, and notes.
Payment data. Card and bank details are tokenized and held by Stripe — they never touch our servers. We store transaction metadata (amount, date, status).
Usage data. Pages visited, features used, IP address, browser, device type. We use this to debug issues and improve the product.
Cookies. Session cookies for authentication, preference cookies, and minimal analytics. No third-party advertising cookies.
2. How we use it
To provide and improve the service, send transactional emails (receipts, password resets, billing notices), respond to support requests, and detect abuse. We send marketing emails only to people who opt in, and you can unsubscribe at any time.
3. Sharing
We share data only with sub-processors who help us run the service: AWS (hosting), Stripe (payments), Postmark (email), Sentry (error tracking). Full list at constructionscope.net/sub-processors. We do not sell your data to anyone, ever.
4. Your rights
You can export your data anytime from Settings → Data export. You can request deletion by emailing privacy@constructionscope.net. EU and California residents have additional rights under GDPR and CCPA — we honor them globally.
5. Security
Data is encrypted in transit (TLS 1.3) and at rest (AES-256). We undergo annual SOC 2 Type II audits. See our security page for full details.
6. Retention
We keep your data while your account is active. After cancellation, you have 90 days to export; then we delete. Some data (financial records) is retained for 7 years as required by law.
7. Children
Construction Scope is not for use by anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect data from minors.
