These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Construction Scope platform. By creating an account or using the service, you agree to these Terms. We've tried to keep them readable — if anything is unclear, email legal@constructionscope.net and a real person will get back to you.
1. The service
Construction Scope provides a software platform for small contracting businesses to manage jobs, estimates, change orders, time tracking, and invoicing. We host the service in the cloud; you access it through a browser or our mobile app.
2. Your account
You're responsible for the activity that happens under your account. Keep your password secure. If you suspect unauthorized access, email security@constructionscope.net immediately. You may invite teammates ("Users") and assign them roles. The account Owner is ultimately responsible for all User activity.
3. Your data
You own the data you put into Construction Scope — customer records, estimates, invoices, photos, time entries, and so on. We hold a limited license to store, process, and display that data only as needed to provide the service. We will never sell your data, and we will never use your customer data to train AI models without your explicit, written consent.
4. Payment processing
Payments collected from your customers are processed through Stripe under their terms of service. Funds settle directly to the bank account you connect — they do not pass through Construction Scope. Stripe charges processing fees (currently 0.8% for ACH, capped at $5; 2.9% + $0.30 for cards). We do not add a markup.
5. Subscription & billing
Paid plans are billed monthly or annually in advance. You can upgrade, downgrade, or cancel from the billing portal at any time. Cancellations take effect at the end of the current billing period. We don't pro-rate refunds for partial months, but if something is broken on our end and you're unhappy, email us — we'll make it right.
6. Trial & free tier
New accounts get a 3-day free trial of the Solo plan. No credit card required. After the trial, you can continue on a paid plan or your account moves to read-only until you choose one.
7. Acceptable use
You agree not to use Construction Scope to do anything illegal, send spam, host malware, or impersonate someone. Full details in our Acceptable Use Policy. We may suspend accounts that violate these terms, with notice when reasonable.
8. Service availability
We aim for 99.95% uptime and publish real-time status at status.constructionscope.net. Pro plan customers get a 99.95% uptime SLA with service credits if we miss it. Things occasionally break — when they do, we tell you what happened and what we're doing about it.
9. Termination
You can cancel your account anytime. After cancellation, you have 90 days to export your data; after that, we permanently delete it. We may terminate accounts for non-payment, fraud, or repeated AUP violations.
10. Liability
We provide Construction Scope "as is." Our total liability for any claim arising from these Terms is limited to the amount you paid us in the prior twelve months. We're not liable for lost profits, lost data, or indirect damages. Some jurisdictions don't allow these limitations — in those places, our liability is limited to the maximum extent permitted by law.
11. Changes
We may update these Terms occasionally. For material changes, we'll email you at least 30 days before they take effect. Continuing to use the service after changes go into effect means you accept the new Terms.
12. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Washington, USA. Disputes are resolved in the state or federal courts of Spokane County, Washington.
