Your card on file is for the Construction Scope subscription — what you pay us, not what your customers pay you. Updating it doesn't affect the bank account where you receive customer payments — that's Stripe Connect, managed separately.

Update via Stripe portal

Billing → Open Stripe portal. Stripe-hosted page lets you replace the card, update billing address, and view past receipts. The change takes effect on your next billing cycle; you don't get charged immediately when updating the card.

For business cards, set the billing address to your business address. For personal cards (sole proprietors), use your home address — what matters is matching the address on file with the card-issuing bank.

What if the card fails

Stripe retries automatically — typically at 24 hours, 72 hours, and 7 days after the initial decline. We email you each time a retry happens, with a link to update your card. After repeated failures, your subscription status flips to past_due.

The app stays usable for 7 days during past_due to give you time to fix the card. After that, write access is paused (read-only mode — you can see everything but can't create new jobs, send invoices, or accept payments). All your data stays intact. Update the card and full access resumes within minutes.

ACH instead of card

For larger workspaces on Pro that want to avoid card fees on the subscription itself, ACH debit is available. Open the Stripe portal → Payment methods → Add bank account. ACH takes 3-5 days to verify but has no transaction fee.

Multiple cards (backup)

You can add a secondary card as a backup. If the primary fails, Stripe automatically charges the backup before retrying. Worth doing for shops where the owner has both personal and business cards and wants to avoid service interruption.
